Paving, Bridge Repairs Planned Sept. 16-19 on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) in Philadelphia

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that paving and bridge repair operations will occur on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) under a $100.6 million project to rehabilitate the Wayne Junction Viaduct over the SEPTA tracks and Nicetown neighborhood in Philadelphia.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

    • Monday, September 16, through Thursday, September 19, from 6:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, periodic single and double lane closures are planned on southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) between Henry Avenue and I-76 for expansion dam repair.
    • Thursday, September 19, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, periodic single and double lane closures are planned on northbound and southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) between I-76 and Henry Avenue for line striping.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through or near the work areas because significant backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
